Wellness Wednesday and Therapeutic Thursday Blog 2/28 & 3/1

Happy March 2018 Loves,

Yesterday left me needing a short break and I forgot to up load the Wellness Wednesday post. I needed some much needed wellness care and was going to the gym. Unfortunately, Lambchop’s autism center called and told me his ABA (applied behavior analysis), therapist called in short notice and I needed to pick him up. Thus, cutting my gym time to a halt. I really needed that gym session yesterday. Also, my sitter cancelled on me for this weekend so, yea….I needed some mommie gymtime and my body is feeling the stress of the last few days.

Nevertheless, Lambchop did not get upset when I picked him up early. My wonderful husband made sure he had Chickfila, for snack time and Lambchop was busy eating that to notice the big change, thankfully. 🙂 We made it home through the mind boggling traffic in New Orleans to get to our little home and Lambchop ate, had a bath, played around, had reading time and off to bed he went.

I was able to sneak in a long bubble bath and finally relax a little until I was off to bed as well. ♥

Thursday,

I woke up this morning to my husband not remembering to set the alarm. Lambchop missed the school bus and husband was in super dad mode. Before I could say much, lol….they were out of the house and on their way to school and work. I was able to muster the little energy I had…(I woke up to sharp, muscle spasms). I did a little leg and back exercises before getting ready for work and out the door to teach I went. I made sure to take some tylenol before my day was to get hectic, because I am also a teacher and my high schoolers are just like my children as well, along with the personalities to match, lol!!

We’ll chat later.

XOXO,

Day two of my viral infection, being a mommie, schools out for my son, Mardi Gras 2018 and other tidbits.

  • Happy Friday Loves,
  • We are gearing up for the weekend, Mardi Gras and getting over a viral infection. I am on day 2 of being home sick. This morning I am still in recovery mode from being ill. My son’s school is out today.
  • His school is celebrating Mardi Gras break a little early. I woke up around 8ish. Hubster was already gone to work. We have this routine that he leaves before our son and I because Lambchop (our son’s nickname), has Autism and separation anxiety. We tracked the anxiety triggers and are finding ways to work around it.
  • I am a special education teacher and this step (tracking behavior triggers),  is easy for me, 🙂
  • We are doing well with Lambchop thus far.
  • Breakfast: Pancakes, eggs, smoke sausage, milk, and juice.
  • Lunch: Not sure what’s on the menu for that.
  • Blog: I am always looking for ways to update the look and character of 4373fashionlane.com.
  • Pinterest: I am working on being better at adding blog postings and tidbits on the site. I have claimed the site on Pinterest, finally!!! xx.

Supreme Court case ruling today changes the “general standard” of educating students with exceptionalities in American public schools.

  • Today’s court ruling by the Supreme Court has significant changes in the education of students with disabilities in American Public School.
  • School districts in America, can no longer offer  “the ‘merely more than de minimis’ test applied by the 10th Circuit.”
  • This new ruling is a win for parents with students with disabilities.
  • It makes having an IEP (Individual Education Plan), that goes beyond the mere basics of educating a child, but one that “must aim to enable the child to make progress.”
  • Understanding of the Supreme Court Case.

This case is significant for parents with children with disabilities; such as myself, who aim to have standards and goals that meet the needs of the whole child.

Happy Sailing :0)

Kid meltdown; working through mommyhood😒

Today, was my day!

  • Kid had a meltdown cause husband playing catch me & kids wasn’t done having fun.
  • Kid has to go to camp. Dad must go to work.
  • Me: thinking: this is gonna end bad!
  • Dad forgot the rules of the house.
  • Pack kid up and leave quickly. But! Nooooo! He just had to have playtime @ 7:30am.
  • Thus, leaving me to deal with the meltdown.
  • I’m driving signing to him. I need help and he smiles and takes off.
  • After I’ve been kicked in the back and shoulder for the next 30 minutes. I send him a long text…….
  • He responded, “I’m sorry. I though you were telling me he was crying🤔😒🙅🏾
  • I didn’t even respond back! It was not worth me getting angry again.
  • Camp is over and we’re waiting for the next camp session.
  • My shoulder and back feels like mush🤕
  • We’re riding in the front this time and playing classical kids songs for pre school.
  • He: son, has been eating and drinking like this morning never happened.
  • Me: writing this blog post!

I’m the Special Education Teacher, so I guess I have everything under control?🙃🙃🙃🔜

Shopping for kids with Autism

In addition to posting about my fashion and makeup pointers, frequently I will post about Lambchop. He’s my son. He has autism. It’s been a journey to say the least. This weekend was a blast for us.  This is a snap shot of his play area. He was excited when he say all of the bags from toys r us. I love playtime with him and he loves it as well. Go LAMBCHOP 💙
