Duke and Duchess of Sussex: Harry Meghan solidify their exit of the Royal Family!
Sirs and Madams:
We cannot say that we have been surprised by the news of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, solidifying their plans to leave the British Royal Family. We were told of this last year. Last year, our good and service filled Duke of Sussex, told us, “their was no other option.” While the Duke wished to remain a member of the royal family. The Duke was tired of the media harassment of his family (namely, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex & baby Archie). Thus, the Duke made the painful decision to leave the royal family.
We can watch this video below and see why our Duchess, was the perfect choice for our (yes! our Duke of Sussex).
We wish the Duke, Duchess, Master Archie, and royal baby bump to be all of the love and happiness in the world. Leave a comment below for us. Until next time, happy reading and be blessed.
Since the beginning of the Grammy Awards, African American musicians have had to claw their way into sustainable recognition.
There is an old saying we were taught and Olivia Pope hears it from her father on Scandal all of the time, “We have to be ten times better, ten times faster, to get ahead.”
Unfortunately, race does play a role in how people see themselves over others. Let’s clear that part of the table right away. Some people are taught this tragic way of thinking from childhood and it shifts their adult focus into how they see people who do not have the same shade as theirs.
This form of racism was been in the grammy awards stratosphere for as long as the awards themselves have been given out.
This year, with the voting delegates becoming more inclusive, that dream is a seeable reality.
After Beyonce’ was shut out last year, the Grammys learned a valuable lesson, the beyhive stings back.
Social media campaigns were energized against the Grammys due to their exclusion of artist in rhythm and blues, rap and hip hop categories for artist in categories whose music never made it to radio, or the music was released more than a year prior.
Here are the nominations for this year’s Grammy categories:

As an educator (ELA, History), it was profound and enlightening to know I was selected to attend Yale University this summer to explore the Life and Writings of Frederick Douglass. I have spent a week on campus, exploring, learning and living through the mood, feelings and thoughts of Mr. Douglass. This is a running blog post as I continue to add more photographs and notes, thoughts and emotions. The most lovely experiences of my life as an educator, was coming to this week long event. It has inspired me to explore more that just makeup, fashion and news with this website. It is encouraging me to become more open in my educator side of myself.
Here is another blog post from Yale University on history in the time of Frederick Douglass.
I am proud to say the school year is finally over. I have been taking a break. Posting more on my Instagram and twitter than here. I was having difficulties with the app. Or, the app was having difficulties and I could not post from it. I love the idea of being more mobile and not having to sit at my MAC and type.
However, I am now back and up and going. I want to say. I am excited that I have been selected to attend an Educator Seminar at Yale University this summer. I am excited. I will post pictures, of course!!! This is an experience of a lifetime as we will explore the writings, thoughts and ideas of Frederick Douglass. The name of the organization is The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History. A few years ago I was selected again to attend a seminar at Tulane University. ♥ Happy Sailing and don’t forget to follow me on social media @4373fashionlane
Inside Johnny Depp’s LA apartment covers an artist’s dream palace. It is no on the real estate market for 12.7 million dollars. After the unfortunate divorce from his recent wife, we can understand if Mr. Depp wishes to move on. Hey! He can afford it. The talking point of the home could very well be the mural by Brazilian Artists: OSGEMEOS. The home is located in the old downtown area of Los Angeles. The building was designed by Claude Beelman.
Is there controversy? Yes! However, you must leave it all at the front door of the movie house and go watch the film. The Original Birth of a Nation was a milky propaganda version of this film.
There is no comparison, between these two films. They are polar opposites. Believe Me!!!!!
Tonight I went to see a movie I was keenly interested in due to my family heritage of growing up in a creole family and learning about our heritage. In New Orleans, you know that if you live in a certain neighborhood you are creole. The 7th ward is that neighborhood. My mothers side of the family the Baziles and my grandfathers side the Uptown Taylors were fair or light complexion people who were proud of their blackness and creole looks.
The free state of jones, is a movie that is intermixed with color, race, class, civil war and identity. It’s a war of the poor versus the rich, black versus white, black working with white, etc. The movie was well written. The main characters were well played by Matthew McConaughey (Newt Knight), Gugu MBatha- Raw (Rachel), Mahershala Ali (Moses), Kerri Russell (Serena Knight), Christopher Berry Shane (Jasper, Newt’s close friend), etc.
What struck me is the fact that I knew absolutely nothing about this renegade robin hood of men and women. These were heros who fought off the Confederate hate loving Mississippi soilders during and after the American civil war. I have downloaded the audible book of the same name to read and get a closer feeling of the story beyond the movie. The next chapter to explore is the aftermath of the lives of these characters after the war ended, but during the period of Jim Crow to now. Vicky Bynum wrote The Free State of Jones.
Through research of articles and looking up the family trees of Newt Knight, Rachel, and Serena, you find a tangled web of life. It is a fascinating story. It’s rare that you read, hear of, or see a movie about a white man fighting against other white men so strongly against the civil war, as Newt Knight did. He wasn’t without flaws, but who is! If you haven’t seen this movie, please do so!
