As we continue to live in the new world of Covid-19, more moms are joining the mom family. This new journey has been interesting to many new moms since the beginning of Covid-19, more than one year ago. One year later, Mandy and her husband Taylor Goldsmith have a cute baby boy named, August Harrison. According to People.com baby August was born on Feb. 20, 2021. Mandy posted a picture of her adorable son on her twitter account labeled, “This is Gus and #ThisIsUs.” After her television sitcom, This Is Us.
As more moms are welcoming their new bundles of joy into the world, Moms like humanitarian and musician Ciara, continue to navigate motherhood with ease. Mrs. Russell Wilson (her husband, is an NFL player and fellow humanitarian), have added a second son to their now family of five.
These new moms are navigating a new world, which relies on careful maneuvering and care. How are you as a mom navigating the world of Covid-19. I am working from home, and it feels like a never ending day and night of motherhood. Today, was the 1st day this week I was able to take a ride by myself.
Let us begin with the obvious: Our Duchess of Sussex is expecting a second child with her beloved husband, Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry. Master Archie is having a sibling, and he will be a big brother. Those are great milestones for any young family. Do you remember when you were first basking in the days of carrying your little bumps? The memories are always wonderful. These memories will be especially wonderful for #familysussex after their miscarriage last summer. As a mom, I know what it is like to carry a baby and then to lose it during those early months.
Following a miscarriage, there is always going to be fear surrounding the next pregnancy. You pray daily for the safe delivery of your (miracle) child. Then, you cherish that little baby daily and thank God for keeping you both safe and healthy through the journey. These next few weeks and months will be especially delicate for Duchess Meghan. Please keep her, Prince Harry, and Master Archie in your prayers.
Next, as well spoke on earlier, Spotify has come out in support of our Duke and Duchess of Sussex after they were criticized for the allegedly high amount of their deal with the music platform company. However, is it really any of our business. This is a business.
At the same token, knowing our Duke and Duchess, they will make the most of their Podcast from Archewell Audio platform and help even the music artist detailed in the article. What is important to note, is that the article cited in this post seems a little angry at the Duke and Duchess beyond their quest for remain service oriented. One can even surmise that the Brits are and will remain for a while achy that America is now the new of of our favorite royal family.
“We can all live a life of service. Service is universal.”
Today is Thursday, February 14, 2019. The day of love all over the world. Most people have been running and will be running many errands today to make sure their beloved is greeted with warm feelings, desires, and sensations of love. On this special day we celebrate the art of love. Today, Valentine’s day is the only day dedicated to the heartbeat of love.
Valentine’s day has its beginnings due to the Roman festival of Lupercalia. Lupercalia was an ancient festival held yearly on February 15. It was conducted under the eye of a priest called Luperci. This festival of love celebrated the season of Spring. This was especially important for fertility rites, where men and women were gathered, and paired by a system of lottery. Fortunately for us, the festival of Lupercalia was changed to St. Valentine’s Day. This was the day of romance that we observe and celebrate, since the 14th century.
Yesterday left me needing a short break and I forgot to up load the Wellness Wednesday post. I needed some much needed wellness care and was going to the gym. Unfortunately, Lambchop’s autism center called and told me his ABA (applied behavior analysis), therapist called in short notice and I needed to pick him up. Thus, cutting my gym time to a halt. I really needed that gym session yesterday. Also, my sitter cancelled on me for this weekend so, yea….I needed some mommie gymtime and my body is feeling the stress of the last few days.
Nevertheless, Lambchop did not get upset when I picked him up early. My wonderful husband made sure he had Chickfila, for snack time and Lambchop was busy eating that to notice the big change, thankfully. 🙂 We made it home through the mind boggling traffic in New Orleans to get to our little home and Lambchop ate, had a bath, played around, had reading time and off to bed he went.
I was able to sneak in a long bubble bath and finally relax a little until I was off to bed as well. ♥
I woke up this morning to my husband not remembering to set the alarm. Lambchop missed the school bus and husband was in super dad mode. Before I could say much, lol….they were out of the house and on their way to school and work. I was able to muster the little energy I had…(I woke up to sharp, muscle spasms). I did a little leg and back exercises before getting ready for work and out the door to teach I went. I made sure to take some tylenol before my day was to get hectic, because I am also a teacher and my high schoolers are just like my children as well, along with the personalities to match, lol!!
I am in the 3rd day of the week after a long Mardi Gras week off and two days trying to get over a viral infection. I do not feel as if I had enough time to get better. Between taking care of my son, who has autism and is under me 24/7, to the demands of being a wife and house cleaner, I am exhausted. I am investing the time into taking naps when I get off of work, maintaining my blog and just trying to keep my head on straight. I was late for work this week, two days in a row 😦
Normally, I have my stuff together, but the last few weeks have been a little rough. So, what do I do?
1. Pray for release of the pressure.
2. Communicate my needs to my spouse.
3. Rely on him more to navigate the chores, I am too exhausted to take up.
4. Keep my son, Lambchop on his schedule, to relieve the pressure off of me.
5. Remind myself that it’s going to be ok.
6. Take naps daily.
7. Go to bed early.
8. Do not stress over things I cannot control.
9. Pray more.
10. Relax, Relate, Release.
We are gearing up for the weekend, Mardi Gras and getting over a viral infection. I am on day 2 of being home sick. This morning I am still in recovery mode from being ill. My son’s school is out today.
His school is celebrating Mardi Gras break a little early. I woke up around 8ish. Hubster was already gone to work. We have this routine that he leaves before our son and I because Lambchop (our son’s nickname), has Autism and separation anxiety. We tracked the anxiety triggers and are finding ways to work around it.
I am a special education teacher and this step (tracking behavior triggers), is easy for me, 🙂
We are doing well with Lambchop thus far.
Breakfast: Pancakes, eggs, smoke sausage, milk, and juice.
Lunch: Not sure what’s on the menu for that.
Blog: I am always looking for ways to update the look and character of 4373fashionlane.com.
Pinterest: I am working on being better at adding blog postings and tidbits on the site. I have claimed the site on Pinterest, finally!!! xx.
Wowzers!! The year is going by faster than expected. A lot has happened since my last post. During that time, I was busy posting on my Instagram page, of the many fashion week likes I was feeling. I have changed the look of, 4373FASHIONLANE.COM. I enjoyed the last few days preparing for my experience riding on a Mardi Gras float with the, Mystic Krewe of Femme Fatale.
Here are some things I am working on this week and the next few days:
4373beautylane, is a new instagram page, in which I wanted to highlight only beauty content. Additionally, I am learning the art of makeup and needed a place for women, such as myself, who do not want to continue spending hundreds of dollars having someone else applying our makeup, when we can accomplish this art on our own.
There is so much I want to accomplish with the brand, 4373…however, I know that great content requires time and effort.
I am a born and raised resident of New Orleans, and it’s carnival (Mardi Gras season), I parade (ride) with the Mystic Krewe of Femme Fatale. We are celebrating five wonderful years as the 1st African American all female krewe in the cities 300 year history. Mardi Gras originally began in the year 1700.
The first krewe, was all white, male and rich. Women were not allowed to parade and women of color were in slavery, and not considered property.
Even though we have the men of the Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club., women are not allowed voting privileges in these male dominated krewes.
It warms my spirit to know that we now have an organization that appreciates the lives, work and dedication of African American, professional and educated women in the city of New Orleans.
In the photos above, I decided I was not going to spend hundreds of dollars on hair and makeup. I styled on own hair and applied my own makeup. I think I did well for a beginner, MUA.
Please read the article for yourself. It’s a cool read. This reading led me to pose this question: how do we maintain a thick skin while navigating the world of social media?
Many bloggers, social media entrepreneurs and folks in general, struggle in this arena. How can you maintain a separate space for emotional sanity when all around you are people perpetuating a perfect life scenario?
The answer is you must have a strong core. Otherwise, everything this we see will leave us miserable. We are in different categories of life and thus our standing in life leaves us fully or partially fulfilled.
How do you build a strong Core? Find what inspires your spirit the most and dive into that area.
Additionally, find what is inspiring and bask in that aspect on social media.
There are times where I too, venture into a little ratchet television, social media postings and gossip blog sites, for kicks and giggles.
Some people who are fulfilled in life look for inspiration and social media is not always the fix for this.
Author, Jasmine Lamb, explored three areas where her life did change when she unplugged:
1. I read more—I buy new books as much as I try new lipstick, so, a lot. I finally got around to making a dent in some pretty crucial reads. Instead of stopping to take mental work breaks to scroll through my various timelines, I picked up a book instead.
2. I doubted myself less—Let’s face it, comparison is a total killjoy. Every time I felt I had made significant progress in my entrepreneurial journey, I’d stop to scroll through Instagram and immediately felt I was back at square one. Quitting Instagram allowed me to be more present in the everyday wins and look at my experiences as a continuous story that’s just as unique and valuable as anyone else’s.
3. My focus shifted—Not only was I more present, but I started to think of new ways to be creative in my “in-between” time, whether it was brainstorming new ideas to reach my business goals, choosing to meditate and re-affirm the day’s intentions, or having more real-time conversations with people I value in real life.
So, the question is, how do YOU maintain a thick skin navigating the world of social media?

It’s holiday time and most of us who are bloggers, writers and planners love a great planner and the accessories that help us stay organized and journal filled. I have been swarming the internet and my own planner brain for the items that are on my shopping list to purchase this holiday season.
I love journals and planners no much that I have a small family of them. However, if you are not looking to pay a car note or mortgage on a planner. I have a few cuties you can meet.
Fragrances routinely waft in and out of Vogue’s Beauty department, but when it comes to the subtle leathery scent of Le Labo’s cult Santal 26—no matter what deadlines are looming or phones are ringing—even the most discerning of noses perk up. So imagine the delight when the label’s new home diffuser, which emits a steady stop-you-in-your-tracks-it-smells-so-good stream of the cult eau, arrived at the office.
Made from Northeast maple wood, a type of marked-up golden brown lumber that is often cast aside for bonfires, the one-of-a-kind scent-spreader transforms the rich fragrance oil, by way of a built-in nebulizer, into a fine mist. But, of course, it doesn’t stop there: Each handmade showpiece also comes equipped with a vintage lightbulb that, with a twist of a silver knob, simultaneously lets off a warm amber glow. A simple desk lamp that doubles as a luxurious perfume? Now that’s a gift too good to give.
The struggle of the 6-8 week relaxer treatments for women of color is an ongoing struggle. I love my straight edges. However, I do not like the chemical burns, relaxer smell and the new growth. I have been wearing extensions, since August. I love them but hate the price. I took them out last night. I do not like the inability to take them out and wash my hair thoroughly on a weekly basis.
PAST PHOTOS WITH MYSELF IN WIGS OR EXTENSIONS 🙂
I am trying to figure out the next wave. Do I go back to the wigs and extensions, or do I take the jump to wearing my natural hair. Decisions!!!!!!!
Please check out some pictures of my past looks with my hair choices. Let me know what you think. I love the flexibility of wearing wigs and extensions. A woman always has a choice to change things up.
I am proud to say the school year is finally over. I have been taking a break. Posting more on my Instagram and twitter than here. I was having difficulties with the app. Or, the app was having difficulties and I could not post from it. I love the idea of being more mobile and not having to sit at my MAC and type.
However, I am now back and up and going. I want to say. I am excited that I have been selected to attend an Educator Seminar at Yale University this summer. I am excited. I will post pictures, of course!!! This is an experience of a lifetime as we will explore the writings, thoughts and ideas of Frederick Douglass. The name of the organization is The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History. A few years ago I was selected again to attend a seminar at Tulane University. ♥ Happy Sailing and don’t forget to follow me on social media @4373fashionlane
To begin this season of Super Soul Sessions off on the correcting footing, I was in need of constant spiritual feeding. Blogging is a spectators sport. You begin a blog and for me, I always want to remain authentic. So, no my numbers are not astronomical but I am pressing my way authentically me.
A girlfriend of my began posting screen shots of this novel Jesus Calling, on Amazon. I decided after reading the posting that I would make a purchase. I have some Audible.com credits for audio books and decided to give this novel a try. I am happy I did. It gives you reading daily. Try it out and see for yourself. The book has various prices depending where you purchase it from but on Amazon.
Yes, it’s that time of the year again. We lose an hour and it will take us a few days to recover. While most of us are struggling. I realized this morning that our kids struggle to most. They are already cranky risers. When we take an hour of their time it truly is a nightmare. Stay strong parents, have a cup of coffee and push through🌺
