Congratulations: Mandy Moore is a Mom.

As we continue to live in the new world of Covid-19, more moms are joining the mom family. This new journey has been interesting to many new moms since the beginning of Covid-19, more than one year ago. One year later, Mandy and her husband Taylor Goldsmith have a cute baby boy named, August Harrison. According to People.com baby August was born on Feb. 20, 2021. Mandy posted a picture of her adorable son on her twitter account labeled, “This is Gus and #ThisIsUs.” After her television sitcom, This Is Us.

As more moms are welcoming their new bundles of joy into the world, Moms like humanitarian and musician Ciara, continue to navigate motherhood with ease. Mrs. Russell Wilson (her husband, is an NFL player and fellow humanitarian), have added a second son to their now family of five.

These new moms are navigating a new world, which relies on careful maneuvering and care. How are you as a mom navigating the world of Covid-19. I am working from home, and it feels like a never ending day and night of motherhood. Today, was the 1st day this week I was able to take a ride by myself.

It was delicious.

Drake Stings Back in Scorpion 🦂

Have you listened to the @champagnepapi #masterpiece #album called #scorpion 👑 It’s everything you need in your life. I’ve listened to the entire album. #top12 #FashionLaneFavorites:

1. 8 out of 10 – when he knows he’s the good guy & the other guy should be grateful. Plies voice at the end is priceless.

2. Emotionless – 1st, anything with @mariahcarey vocals is a number one. When you’re tired of the BS, that’s the feeling of #emotionless

3. I’m Upset – how many people have ever been 💯 about their feelings. On this track, Drake is spot on! Gotta lotta blood and it’s cold. Can’t go 50/50 with a h. #epic

4. March 14 – when you know that person isn’t the one but you have to man up.

5. Final Fantasy – it’s an orgasmic fantasy with melodies only Drake can deliver.

6. In my feelings – nola bounce song that you can shake your a.. to. A good twerk song.

7. Nice for what – when you’re over the BS, plus the bounce added from #neworleans puts us all in our feelings 💕

8. Nonstop- when you know you a boss. I’m a unforgiving dog 🐕a•• // I felt that in my soul. Pinky ring, until I get a wedding ring: I don’t think ppl realize how deep that line is. Imagine you deciding that you’re over the bs, that your cooling until the #realonecomesalong👑

9. Summer Games- I feel we all know who this was about. Hopefully, that happy ending we want for Drake and 🥂will happen.

10. Jaded – honest emotions of honesty in a relationship.

11. Finesse- words all good girls want to hear from the favorite guy, you stay on my mind.

12. That’s how you feel- loving everything about this. When you can spot what the other person is doing #ohiseeyou

Overall, Drake delivers the goods we’re going to have a great time! Ps..Drake can we please have a full #randbalbum 🤞You’ve shown us the goods, and we need that R&B album.

WELLNESS WEDNESDAY BLOG 2/21/18

Screen Shot 2018-02-11 at 12.59.15 PMI am in the 3rd day of the week after a long Mardi Gras week off and two days trying to get over a viral infection. I do not feel as if I had enough time to get better. Between taking care of my son, who has autism and is under me 24/7, to the demands of being a wife and house cleaner, I am exhausted. I am investing the time into taking naps when I get off of work, maintaining my blog and just trying to keep my head on straight. I was late for work this week, two days in a row 😦

Normally, I have my stuff together, but the last few weeks have been a little rough. So, what do I do?

1. Pray for release of the pressure.
2. Communicate my needs to my spouse.
3. Rely on him more to navigate the chores, I am too exhausted to take up.
4. Keep my son, Lambchop on his schedule, to relieve the pressure off of me.
5. Remind myself that it’s going to be ok.
6. Take naps daily.
7. Go to bed early.
8. Do not stress over things I cannot control.
9. Pray more.
10. Relax, Relate, Release.

Happy Wellness Wednesday,
XOXO

Snow day, Tarte Cosmetics and kids will be kids.

Good Evening Loves,

  • Here in New Orleans we spent our day inside looking at the news about the black ice, closed schools and shut down city. We are at freezing levels down here.
  • I am so glad we have to stay inside today. I wanted to take off from work yesterday and hunker down, but I remembered I was doing a lesson on the history of Mardi Gras and yesterday was king cake day for all of my B day classes.
  • I purchased king cakes from Joe Gambinos bakery in Metairie, Louisiana. Screen Shot 2018-01-17 at 9.00.14 PM.png
  • My students loved their king cake and had a blast learning about the history of it. Some students got the baby and are now tasked with bring the next king cake, which is a Mardi Gras tradition.
  • Thus, I am home today due to the weather issues and I am glad about it. My classroom is cold. We have an open campus, by design and when the students enter my building, because I am on the end of the hall, I get the cold or hot drafts blown into my classroom. UGH!!!

Now let’s chat about Tarte Cosmetics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I posted a previous post about Tarte Cosmetics and their down right disrespect of women and men of color, in their non release of inclusive shades of their, Shape Tape Foundations. See the link to the article by Allure Magazine on it here.
  • After looking and watching makeup reviews from Jackie Aina, MakeupShayla and Alyssa Ashleyy, I am once again determined to use my blog to speak out against the injustice of makeup companies who refuse to include people of color in their branding, campaigns, ads and public relations of their products.
  • Here are some of the comments posted on facebook from people on social media about this debacle:

Here is the response from Tarte Cosmetics:

I just unsubscribed from the company. I am no longer going to purchase anything from them. It’s just unbelievable. I do not for one moment believe them. If they were sincere, why turn off the comments on Instagram:

See! Tarte Cosmetics, you are busted. Yes, customers will purchase your products. However, I will not.

And the Grammy nominations are???????

  • Since the beginning of the Grammy Awards, African American musicians have had to claw their way into sustainable recognition.
  • There is an old saying we were taught and Olivia Pope hears it from her father on Scandal all of the time, “We have to be ten times better, ten times faster, to get ahead.”
  • Unfortunately, race does play a role in how people see themselves over others. Let’s clear that part of the table right away. Some people are taught this tragic way of thinking from childhood and it shifts their adult focus into how they see people who do not have the same shade as theirs.
  • This form of racism was been in the grammy awards stratosphere for as long as the awards themselves have been given out.

  • This year, with the voting delegates becoming more inclusive, that dream is a seeable reality.
  • After Beyonce’ was shut out last year, the Grammys learned a valuable lesson, the beyhive stings back.
  • Social media campaigns were energized against the Grammys due to their exclusion of artist in rhythm and blues, rap and hip hop categories for artist in categories whose music never made it to radio, or the music was released more than a year prior.
  • Shucks, Adele even said Beyonce’ was better than her album that won last year.

Here are the nominations for this year’s Grammy categories:
